Incentive Shines Despite Budget Decline - Current Affairs Comes to the Rescue for McDonald’s Australia
When McDonald’s Australia asked Hawaii TEAMNet Partner, Current Affairs, to plan and produce an incentive event for their guests’ final night in Hawaii, it was clear that the production company would have to “Supersize It,” without a supersized budget.
Still, Rescue Me, the theme of McDonald’s Australia event was fully realized by Current Affairs’ flair for the creative, and by bringing together interactivity, emergency vehicles and a bevy of nurses, doctors, and firefighters!
To increase intrigue and buying, Current Affairs asked guests to attend dressed as first responders. When the doors opened to the dozens of police officers, SWAT team members, and nurses waiting in the foyer, they were met with a well-executed “disaster area” -- Tables and chairs turned upside down, a parachute hanging from the ceiling, and four “rescue” vignettes staged throughout the room, including:
- A Military Compound with a parked military jeep and 1940’s vintage ambulance. Adding to the combat scene, oil drums were knocked over and camouflage netting was draped on the walls.
- An Airplane Crash Site featuring part of an airplane fuselage, a “pilot” suspended in the air, and a parachute hanging from the ceiling.
- A Lifeguard Rescue featuring a lifeguard stand, theatrical palm tree and the infamous Baywatch yellow truck.
- A Damsel in Distress portraying the disasters of a distressed blonde, pigtailed woman dressed in hot pants standing by the side of her car with a flat tire. Flares were set up around the car signaling for Guests to help rescue her.
In addition to providing fun and interactivity, each Rescue scene enabled unique photo opportunities. Adding to the exciting elements were live entertainment and dancing.
Although on a small sized budget, Current Affairs was able to execute an exciting and memorable incentive event for McDonald’s of Australia. Luckily, the only people that needed rescuing were the guests from too much fun!
